Adaptation

Plastic and Clay

Trough the process of adaptation my piece is built to adjust the nature of two contrasting materials, plastic and clay. The plastic being the solid structure is composed of organic shapes while the clay is moving smoothly on the surface in order to find its own comfort. The set environment is meant to hold alive the wet clay and to emphasize the stark reality of the plastic through their interaction. Furthermore, the performance of the clay becomes a challenge of avoiding dryness while the plastic absorbs and settles in to the foreign material. The modification in this piece reflects the struggle and constant conflict in my own environment, and tries to define whether I adjust to the new surroundings or I let myself dry up and disappear. Adjusting, interacting, growing therefore is the challenge I assume and reflect in the development of the work.
